Newer MacBooks have IMUs as well for the movement dots feature (used to help with screen sickness in vehicles)

That's really fun and cool! :) I was hoping the sound would also be sped up/down (or change of pitch perhaps would work better) as you moved the hinge faster/slower, so you could do that really slow "tack-tack-tack" sound like when you move a really heavy door on a worn hinge really slow

I wonder if the sound could be fully synthesized instead of the current 2.9s recording. That's not an easy task, but perhaps the result would sound more realistic.

> pitch depends on position of hinge
> volume depends on how fast you adjust it
Yeah, I had the same thought - in all the creaky doors I've seen, pitch and speed go together.

Yes I did test that too! It seemed to sound a little nicer this way though, more cartoonish
Awesome. This reminds me of the fun apps we had when the MacBook and iPhone got released.

from the readme:
> the filtering is optimised for framework 12's hinge stiffness.
never in a million years would I expect to have to optimize software for a given hinge stiffness, this made me chuckle just reading it

I like that :)

It finally feels premium. This is really funny

Very cool. Could make it be higher pitch & louder when closed faster :)

I'm reminded of the hacks for old ThinkPads that read the accelerometer used to detect drops and park the disk heads; by slapping the machine on either side, you could switch to the next or previous desktop.

Are you running MacOS on your Framework?

It looks like Fedora. Did you visit the wrong link?

iirc there is also a imu in some macbooks to detect a fall and park the hdd heads before the crash? Anyway, always happy to see toys like this!
